September 11th Concerts

Since 2002,  "The September Concert Foundation"  has been organizing hundreds of free concerts throughout the world every September 11 on the anniversary
of the attacks on the Twin Towers. This year Rome will once again be a part of this event with a vast program of free concerts organized by "Compagnia
per la Musica in Roma", a Global Affiliate for Italy of "The September Concert Foundation".
The ambition of this initiative is to trasform a date that has entered into the collective memory as a symbol of contrast and conflict into a moment of
peace and harmony through the celebration of music, a universal language that conquers all barriers and diversities.

 

 On Friday, September 11th, 2009, Rome will be peacefully invaded by jazz, swing, soul, symphonic and chamber music. The day concludes with an evening concert
at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, in the Santa Cecilia Hall.

 

All the concerts are free. However, if you would like to attend the evening concert - Beethoven's 9th Symphony directed by Maestro Lorin Maazel, it is recommend
you go early for tickets when they become available for distribution at the Santa Cecilia box office at the Auditorium on September 9th and 10th, 11:00
