Special guest speaker - Dr Aziz Alberry
Aziz Elbehri is a Senior Economist at the UN-FAO. He specialises in the economics of climate adaptation in agriculture and food systems impacted by climate change. Aziz's work consists in providing technical support and advice to developing country governments on how to incorporate climate adaptation within their agricultural policies and development strategies. He has worked in this capacity in Kenya, Ecuador, Morocco and recently started similar work in Iran.
Dr. Elbehri has worked for FAO for over 7 years. Before that he served for 10 years as an economist with the U.S Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service. Aziz has two master degrees: one in agronomy and another in agricultural economics from the University of Minnesota, as well as a PhD in International Trade and Development from Purdue University. He is the proud father of two sons who are currently in college. And for full disclosure, Aziz is the husband of Amanda Martin-Elbehri, a board member of the United Nations Women's Guild. Both currently reside in La Giustiniana.
