fascinating and hilarious" DON QUIXOTES, Dec 1-9, fun for all ages, English Theatre of Rome

There is no way to describe this production without using the word clever. I laughed so hard that I realized my face was hurting when they had taken the final of their six bows.-Anchorage Press,  RJ Johnson, 7/ 2018,

What a joy is to welcome Glyka, Angeliki and Patrick to our theatre and to Anchorage. Don Quixote is a timeless tale of dreamers and seeing the world as we hope it will be... and I say THANK YOU to our troupe that shows us the world as we may want it to be! This world that DON QUIXOTES shows us – with joy and jaughter all around. Theatre made by Greeks... and a German... who live in Rome... in a story set in Spain... you're in for a treat. - Teresa K Pond, Producing Artistic Director at Cyrano's Theatre Company in Anchorage, Alaska

While thoroughly entertaining, there is also something magical and rebellious about reimagining the story of Don Quixotes for two women. The performance we were privileged to see in 2018 was energetic and silly in all the right ways. -Dawson Moore, Coordinator of the Valdez Last Frontier Theatre Conference

Director's Note

Don Quixotes is one of the most exciting adventures of my life. This adventure started in 2013 when I was assigned by the artistic director of the Regional Theatre of Crete in Greece to do a comedy show. "Pick up your favorite hero", Michalis Aerakis said to me and immediately Don Quixote crossed my mind, a bizarre hero that reminds us to fight for what is good and fair in this futile world. In 2014, Spyros Pilos invited us to present DQ in Banannefabrik theatre in Luxembourg -- meanwhile we were touring all around Greece in theatres, museums and schools -- and in 2015, I got an e-mail from Dawson Moore: "Congratulations, Glyka. Your play Don Quixotes has been accepted for inclusion in the Play Lab at the 23rd Annual Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska." I didn't believe my own eyes... "Alaska? How am I going to get there from Greece?" I finally got there thanks to some people that believed in me and my work, had an amazing time, learned a lot and met so many fascinating people. I met Carolynne Wilcox that produced DQ in 2016 at the Pocket Theatre in Seattle. And in 2018, we traveled all the way from Rome, Athens, and Frankfurt to be part of Cyrano's big theatre family in Anchorage, Alaska thanks to Teresa K. Pond and Dawson Moore. I'd like to thank with all my heart The English Theatre of Rome and Gaby Ford who invited us to Rome and made this dream come true, Spyros Pilos for his wonderful drawing of Don Quixote and Sancho that always decorates our poster, my beloved sister Elena Stoiou who has been my assistant director, Patrick Knappich, the funniest drummer in the world, and Angeliki Karakaxidou who is not only a great actress, but also a good friend. Elena, Angeliki and Patrick are always there for me and I can't thank them enough. I hope you all enjoy this "journey" as much as we do! Καλό ταξίδι! Buon viaggio! Gute Reise! Buen viaje!

Laughter, a bit of history and imagination! Check out Don Quixotes this weekend playing at Cyrano's. Glyka, Patrick and Angeliki you guys were amazing!!! Thank you so very much for a fun family evening!

It is an imaginative show, reminiscent of the medieval theater, when theatre artists wandered across Europe carrying the seed of the theater.
