The Professional Women's Association

THE PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S  ASSOCIATION

WHEN WOMEN MAKE IT HAPPEN

Founded in 1992, the Professional Women's  Association has been the centre of networking, socializing, sharing, learning and growing for international women living in Rome.

Better known as PWA, it welcomes women from all walks of life, giving them endless opportunities whether in the work environment or in a social framework.

PWA Rome meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from September to June, at the centrally located Rose Garden Hotel on Via Boncompagni, just off of Via Veneto.  PWA has hosted guest speakers such  as University Professors, Engineers, Scientists, doctors and Surgeons as well as known politicians and administrators.  There is a topic for everyone.  SO far, the 2009 - 2010 PWA calendar has covered subjects such as Feminine Leadership, the Food Crisis in third world countries and Renewable Energy.

January takes a look at Creativity: the best weapon to survive the crisis

The peculiarity of the crisis we have been experiencing for some time is that there will be no end to it: we have to learn to live with the crisis and to be able

to survive...and be happy. To face adversity, we fortunately have a resource which is free of charge: creative intelligence. How to develop it and to use it, either

individually or in groups, this is the main topic of the workshop of Wednesday the 20th of January2010 presented by guest speaker

Hubert Jaoui who is one of the world's leading experts in applied creativity, a discipline founded in the USA in the 60s and exported in Europe about ten years

later. With the company's team GIMCA, which he founded,  he has established permanent research and collaboration with colleagues, customers and experts

worldwide in order to develop the methodology and extend the range of applications. Businesses and individuals can develop their own innovative capacity

with both economic and psychological benefits.

Other PWA events include the fun Halloween Party organized at the Hard Rock Cafè on Via Veneto on October 31st, an elegant stand up dinner in December at the Grand Hotel on Piazze della Repubblica where all guests and members have a chance to exchange a Christmas gift; wine tasting sessions are organized every once in a while at the Popular International Wine Accademy at Il Palazzetto, which has also hosted last year's end of year June party.  Some of the members' benefits include : a fidelity card is highlighted on International Women's  Day when PWA embraces women in culture, in history, in business and takes its members and guests on an unforgettable journey through feminine intrigue and passion.  In March 2009 Programs Director Valerie Baxter set up a walk through the controversial life of the notorious Lucrezia Borgia, Governess of Nepi, giving a new outlook on her history as well as offering an opportunity to visit the cultural Roman outskirts.

For the first time, PWA is presenting the WOMAN OF THE YEAR Project which selects an outstanding woman who has achieved a certain visibility both as a businesswoman and a member of PWA.

While "shaping their businesses, sharing contacts while forging friendships, and offering ways to support"each other's careers and ambitions", international women in Rome give one another endless opportunities to grow together, to experience new workshops and to do active network.
